Christopher Reagan Mellblom died Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, in his sleep of an undiagnosed heart issue.
Born in Liverpool, he moved to DeWitt and graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School, according to his obituary. He worked for the state Department of Agriculture & Markets where he was a food/animal feed inspector.
He attended the Culinary Institute of America for culinary arts, Allegheny College for nutrition and received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in food science, according to his obituary. He was recently accepted at Michigan State University for a master’s in food safety.
“Chris’ love for food was evident,” his obituary said. “Making it, cooking it, eating it and inspecting it. His zest for knowledge of his trade was constant and brought delight to his family and friends.”
Mellblom was an avid San Francisco 49er’s fan. He had the “good fortune of watching them win their first game of the season on the eve that he passed,” his obituary said.
A calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 at Farone & Son Funeral Home, 4899 W. Taft Road, Liverpool. A memorial service will follow at noon. Donations can be made to the Food Bank of CNY.
