New York Fashion Week is on the horizon. The annual industry event officially kicks off on Friday and will run through Sept. 13. This season’s slate of shows promises the first collection from Helmut Lang’s new creative director Peter Do, and returning fashion favorites Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren, among others.
While runway shows and major after parties are often reserved for members of the fashion industry, many brands hold activations and pop-up events open to the public, celebrating NYFW. Here, WWD has rounded up a list of public events for those hoping to celebrate Fashion Week.
Hey Harper
Dates: Sept. 8 to Sept. 10
In honor of New York Fashion Week, Hey Harper is offering customers the chance to exchange rusty old jewelry pieces for waterproof jewelry pieces of their choice. The store is located in NoLIta, a gold mine of independent shops in New York City.
Neu York
Dates: Sept. 8 to Sept. 10
Media company Highsnobiety is launching a pop-up for Neu York, a content, commerce and experiential programming space celebrating fashion and culture. The first edition of Neu York will feature a brick-and-mortar store located in the heart of SoHo and will offer a curated retail experience, accompanied by 3 days of events. This will feature collaborations with prominent figures from the worlds of art, design, cuisine, fashion and music, who will also act as hosts.
Britt Netta and Rezek Pop-up
Dates: Sept. 7 to Sept. 11
Feathered, silky and party-ready brand Rezek has partnered with luxury shoe brand Britt Netta for a pop-up shop taking place during New York Fashion Week. For those in need of a weekend event look, this pop-up can take care of your ready-to-wear and shoe needs.
J.Crew at Seaport
Dates: Sept. 8 and Sept. 9
J.Crew is hosting a two-day activation at 89 South Street celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary with limited-edition giveaway items. The activation also includes interactive games and free beverages and snacks. Customers can celebrate the heritage of the storied American brand.
Chanel Diner
Dates: Sept. 8 to Sept. 10
Chanel is celebrating its Chance fragrance with a pop-up diner in Williamsburg. Reservations for the dinner are available on Chanel’s website. In the diner itself, guests can sit at booths and explore Chanel’s fragrance offerings. In an outdoor garden, customers can shop the Chanel Chance fragrances, as well as enjoy games and diner-inspired refreshments.
Prada Paradoxe Intense Pop-up
Dates: Sept. 8 to Sept. 10
Prada Paradoxe Intense is the new refillable fragrance by Prada. For a limited time, customers can immerse themselves in the world of the fragrance at a special SoHo pop-up. Tickets are available for the event via Eventbrite. Limited space will be reserved for walk-ups, so those interested are advised to get tickets ahead of time.
Runway of Dreams Adaptive Exhibit
Dates: Sept. 14 to Sept. 16
The exhibit will feature adaptive and universally designed collections from mainstream brands committed to inclusion in the fashion and beauty industries, and the history of Runway of Dreams as a trailblazer in the adaptive space. The Runway of Dreams Foundation is a public charity that empowers people to have confidence and self-expression through inclusion in fashion and beauty.
Rimowa “Seit 1898” Exhibit
Dates: Sept. 8 to Sept. 17
Rimowa is celebrating it’s 125th anniversary with an exhibit that overlaps with New York Fashion Week. Fans of the brand can explore the German heritage label’s century-plus heritage. This is the tour’s last stop before it heads to Rimowa’s hometown of Cologne, Germany.
Agent Nateur x The Vitamin Shoppe NYFW Activation
Date: Sept. 11
Agent Nateur will activate a branded food truck outside of The Vitamin Shoppe’s 72nd Street Location on Sept. 11th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at 93 Mercer Street in Soho from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., timed to the g launch of the all-natural skincare and wellness brand’s launch with the retailer. The truck exterior was custom designed in the image of the brand’s holi (mane) gradient blue packaging, passing out founder Jena Covello’s signature matcha latte beverage which incorporates the collagen and pearl powder supplement. Covellowill be on-site to meet and greet attendees.
