It’s not everyday that you see Taylor Swift parading down the streets of New York in head-to-toe Phoebe Philo, but on Instagram account @Youbelonginthis anything is possible. The profile’s founder, Cookie Cohen, has taken it upon herself to reboot Swift’s look, swapping her “girl next door” charm for avant-garde gowns, runway-ready separates and It-girl accessories. “I love that she stays true to her roots and doesn’t get sucked into the fantasy of it all,” Cohen told the Coveteur. “But at the same time, she could be serving…” That’s right, Taylor is entering her fashion girlie era – if only via the power of Photoshop.
Dressing celebrities can be an integral part of brand business models. Get the pairing right and profiles can sky rocket. Think: Liz Hurley in safety-pinned Versace, Halle Berry’s Noughties Elie Saab “naked dress”, and, more recently, Gwyneth in courtroom-appropriate Brunello Cucinelli.
Here at Vogue, we spend a lot of time dreaming up weird, wonderful and downright chic celebrity-and-designer partnerships. So who’s in our fantasy fashion league for 2024? From Blake Lively in Alaïa to Maggie Smith in Schiaparelli, Kate Middleton in Tolu Coker and Rihanna in Ellie Misner, scroll down to see and shop our line-up.
